IB Environmental Systems and Societies is an interdisciplinary course that bridges Group 3 (Individuals and Societies) and Group 4 (Sciences). Its goal is to deliver a comprehensive understanding of environmental issues from both scientific and societal perspectives.
The course covers essential topics including:
· Foundations of environmental systems;
· Ecology and ecosystem dynamics;
· Biodiversity and conservation;
· Water and atmospheric systems;
· Climate change and its impacts;
· Natural resource management;
· Human population dynamics;
· Urban environmental challenges.
Assessment consists of three components:
· Paper 1 (25% at SL and 30% at HL) is a case study examining your ability to analyse environmental data and apply course knowledge;
· Paper 2 (50%) includes data interpretation, short answers, and extended responses;
· Internal Assessment (25% at SL and 20% at HL) is an individual practical investigation that demonstrates your research and analytical skills.
Our tutors are committed to smoothly guiding you through all these components. Thanks to their help, you are able to develop both the solid theoretical understanding and practical skills needed for success in ESS.
