EAL lessons focus on recognising and using high-frequency English words for academic purposes to accelerate a student’s ability to communicate their ideas clearly and purposefully. EAL support is not only for English as a subject, but can help all subjects being taught in English through the learning of key words and writing styles related to anything from a History essay to a Science lab report.
Find A TutorMany English mother tongue students study in the local system and their use of English is restricted to the home environment. However, using English in an academic setting requires a different vocabulary and a high level of written fluency. Mother Tongue English lessons are perfect for native-English speakers who are making the switch from the local system to an English-language curriculum, or for those who would like to maintain a high level of English, especially in writing, while remaining in the local system. Suitable for Middle Years Programme (MYP), and IB students.
Find A TutorOur expert English Literature tutors guide students through the key elements to consider when critiquing a text, as well as help plan an insightful and clearly-structured response. Finding that solid “thesis statement” and strong “topic sentences” is a complex process that takes many of us years of practice. Suitable for MYP and IB students.
Find A TutorOne of the great challenges for students is adapting their choice of words, register and text structure to suit a particular audience or purpose. Find A TutorOften students are more than capable when it comes to homework and assignments, but simply struggle to get started. Our tutors provide a structure and routine for doing homework as well as guiding them through the initial brainstorm and planning process needed for their assignments. Most importantly, we want students to become independent learners and will help them build the skills and self-knowledge to manage their homework on their own.
