History IA Short Course

Course teacher – Melina teaches IB History, Global Politics and supervises Extended Essays and Internal assessments. She has been an Examiner for the IB since 2014. She holds a Masters in Sociology and as an examiner she has a very good eye on what students need to improve and a clear understanding of the marking material to help students improve their scores. Course objectives
- Make progress on your Internal Assessment (IA) during the summer break.
- Get the guidance, structure, and motivation needed to move forward with confidence.
Cost – 300 Swiss Francs – 6 hours of tuition
Maximum class size – 10 students
Dates – Daily, online 19th – 22nd August (inclusive)
Time – 13:00 – 14:30 CET
History IA course will cover:
- IA rubric and assessment criteria.
- What distinguishes top-scoring IAs and how to avoid common pitfalls.
- How to write a research question, how to research and make hypotheses.
- Effective use of AI (without plagiarism) & digital tools to support the investigation.
- Work with real life examples to learn dos and don’ts for successful research
- Make sure your Section B has sufficient argumentative and evaluation work and that is fully supported by sources
- Efficient ways to distribute word count and select useful sources to get a high marking IA.
The students finish the course with tools to build or refine their research question and support to select effective and feasible sources and build a strong argument in the investigation. All based on the latest demands of the IB Organisation.
Additionally, they will have a clear understanding of the demands of the Reflection criterion and will be able to tailor their Section C to the information presented in their first two sections.
