About:
With over 18 years of international teaching experience, I’ve taught at prestigious Swiss boarding schools and international schools in Japan, China, and the United States. As an IB Visual Arts Examiner for the HL Process Portfolio, I bring a clear understanding of the assessment criteria and know how to guide students to meet those expectations. Each session is tailored to the individual student’s goals, whether refining artistic concepts, strengthening technical skills, or preparing for evaluation. I'm passionate about developing my student's creative minds and moving them beyond their potential.
"Mark was an excellent tutor - clear, supportive and professional. He was incredibly helpful in guiding me through my IA. He provided a clear constructive feedback at every stage of my IA and showed me how to structure my investigation effectively. His support made a significant impact on my progress. Highly recommend!" - IB Visual Arts student.
Teaching experience and approach:
I hold a BA in Fine Arts, earned while apprenticing under a master sculptor, and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction, along with professional U.S. teaching licenses in both visual arts and elementary education. I have designed art, design, and media curricula across multiple grade levels. With a broad range of teaching experience and a thoughtful, analytical approach, I’m able to connect with each student and adapt my support to their individual learning style. I help students succeed in visual arts by building their creative confidence, developing strong portfolios, and preparing them for high-level assessments like the IB Visual Arts programme.
