A certified teacher of History, I have two decades of classroom experience across the secondary age range successfully teaching IB, A Level, GCSE and iGCSE History, Economics and TOK, both within my native UK and internationally. I bring a wealth of experience as an IB Examiner and Internal Assesmment moderator into my tuition, as well as Extended Essay supervisor. I find that being able to transmit a deep knowledge of the IBDP framework and fostering a clear and structured learning environment, gives my IB students the security and firm foundations in analysis and critical thinking to succeed in these independent tasks.

Following my Bachelor of Economics and Social Studies, I went on to achieve a Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Secondary History. Over my long teaching career, I have developed a tutoring style based on open dialogue and relevance to create flexible individualised learning programmes using a range of learning techniques to suit the tutee. I believe regular constructive feedback from and to the tutee is essential to create a comfortable, honest and realistic learning environment.

I am skilled at keeping students motivated and focused, planning structured work in manageable quantities. I also provide opportunities to reflect on previous work before moving on. I make regular use of checklists for IB essays for Paper 2 and 3 and also provided guidance booklets that have helped students write relevant and concise essays meeting the necessary criteria set out by the IB.
