About:
With over 20 years of teaching experience, my kind and patient approach gets great results from my students. As an Associate Examiner for Maths IGCSE, I know exactly what is needed to achieve top grades. I am an experienced IB Diploma Maths teacher of Maths AI SL/HL and Maths AA SL. One of the elements I enjoy the most is supporting students by helping them with exam techniques. Helping them become confident in all of the course content, especially the toughest parts of the syllabus is important. I also support Internal Assessments and Extended Essays in Maths and I am known to go above and beyond to help my students reach their goals.

Teaching experience and approach:
I hold a Master of Education in Maths and Science and completed extra credits in the teaching of Mathematics to English Language Learners, students with disabilities and gifted and talented students. For 17 years I taught Maths in the New York City Department of Education. Most recently I have been teaching MYP and DP Mathematics at an IB World School in Europe. I believe every student can learn. My patience and great communication skills make me a perfect tutor. My deep subject knowledge and working with higher order thinking questions are my strengths. During my tutoring I use different methods and strategies, starting with practicing basic skills, scaffolding and moving to real-world problems and applications.

ParentI used Tutors plus for my daughter who has dyslexia. I particularly like that they listened to my needs and paired her with Alan who had experience of using innovative and alternative styles of tutoring to reach her learning style. It was a personal service rather than a blanket service. I was contacted intermittently to confirm all was on track.
