About:
I am a certified teacher with over 15 years of international teaching and tutoring experience. I teach iGCSE and IB English Language and Literature, as well as English B, TOK, and Philosophy. My strong background in Philosophy, with a BA and MA in the subject, enhances my teaching in these areas, going beyond the curriculum to share meaningful applications and connections, and helping students see the relevance of their studies. I specialise in academic writing, providing expert guidance to help students improve their Internal Assessments and Extended Essays, achieving better outcomes and greater confidence in their work.

Teaching experience and approach:
Following my undergraduate studies in English and Philosophy, I pursued a MA in Philosophy and a Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Teaching. I then went on to complete a PhD in Education with a focus on English for Academic Purposes, which has provided me with unique insights and skills to teach students how to effectively communicate their ideas. Over my career I have consistently helped my students to excel in their studies and fully satisfy iGCSE and IB assessment criteria. I am known for my deep command of my subject areas and ability to build a strong rapport with my students, inspiring in them a deep engagement with their learning.

ParentI used Tutors plus for my daughter who has dyslexia. I particularly like that they listened to my needs and paired her with Alan who had experience of using innovative and alternative styles of tutoring to reach her learning style. It was a personal service rather than a blanket service. I was contacted intermittently to confirm all was on track.
