About:
Over my 30-year career teaching EAL and English literature at middle school, high school, and university levels, I have developed a comprehensive and student-centred approach. Guided by a deep understanding of diverse learning styles, I have extensive experience as a language support teacher for ESL/EAL/EFL and SEN students. I have successfully tutored IB Language A (both Literature and Language & Literature courses), English B and Ab-Initio and supported iGCSE English, and other curricula. As a passionate writing teacher, I have tailored my writing and presentation pedagogy to accommodate each individual's academic journey and meet exam goals.
"The experience I had with TutorsPlus was great. Olivia was very helpful in guiding me, as the British education system was brand new to my son, who joined the English school in the 12th grade. My son had 2 teachers from TutorsPlus for 2 different subjects. Both teachers were amazing and have helped my son tremendously with his tutoring. They were accommodating to my son, who is facing mental health challenges." - iGCSE English B (EdExel) Parent.
Teaching experience and approach:
I hold a Master of Education: Culture, Critical, and Curriculum Studies with a specialisation in Language. Throughout my career I have obtained numerous qualifications and certificates to perfect my ability to guide students effectively. I have decades of experience in international education and have been a faculty member at a renowned boarding school for 25 years. I emphasize producing excellent academic writing through rigorous revision processes and targeted vocabulary building. Additionally, I incorporate presentations to enhance students' communication skills and confidence. This holistic approach not only improves language proficiency across all CEFR levels, from A1 to C2, but also equips students with the critical academic skills necessary for university research and beyond.
