About:
Over my decades of experience teaching English, I have mastered how to demystify literary analysis and make it as fun. Also to make it as and authentic as chatting with a cousin or friend. My career has taken me from the U.S. to South America, where I was Head IB Teacher and Head of Year at a school in Argentina. I am a certified teacher and IB examiner and an experienced Extended Essay and Individual Oral Commentary supervisor.
Teaching experience and approach:
I hold an MA in English from New York University and have worked in Education, as a literature and writing teacher, for over two decades. Of the different programmes I have taught I am a specialist in the IB, IGCSE, and AP. At some of the schools I have also taught English as a second language, and counselled students on their college essays. I prepare my lessons with creativity and care and ensure that I adapt to my students’ different learning approaches and challenges.
Our sessions might start as low-stakes conversations on literature, analysis, and writing. Then we will move to the work the student needs to complete. We will go through the writing and planning process. We will consult resources and mentor texts. Above all, I will scaffold the learning experience to each student's individual. While at the same time pushing students toward mastery of their objective. By the end of our sessions, students will have a more cogent approach to not only their course, but also coursework tasks, and any prompt they confront on their academic and professional journey.
