About:
I am a fully qualified science teacher with over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience across private and comprehensive schools, as well as English, French, and international schools. My specialist subject is Chemistry, which I tutor for IB, A Level, AP, IGCSE, French Bac and Swiss Matu. I expertly guide IB Chemistry students through Extended Essays and Internal Assessments, and I also have significant experience teaching Physics, Biology, and Maths across IGCSE and A Level. French by background, I was educated in the UK, giving me a strong understanding of the British education system and university pathways. My international background allows me to connect easily with students from diverse cultures while maintaining high academic standards. Teaching experience and approach:
I hold a Master's in Pharmaceutical Chemistry as well as a Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Chemistry and hold Qualified Teaching Status in the UK. My career has spanned classroom teaching, department leadership, and one-to-one tuition across a wide range of settings. As Head of Science at a previous school, I established and maintained an excellent departmental reputation, contributed to major restructuring projects, and equipped and managed a fully functioning secondary science laboratory. For the past five years, I have taught at a British online secondary school, delivering multiple curricula to students from a wide range of academic and cultural backgrounds.
My tutoring ranges from focused exam preparation to delivering full courses for home-schooled students, always tailored to the individual learner. I differentiate effectively to provide highly personalised tuition, with a particular focus on ambitious students aiming for top grades and competitive university entry. My broad subject range, international experience, and leadership background give me a well-rounded perspective that I bring to every lesson.

ParentI used Tutors plus for my daughter who has dyslexia. I particularly like that they listened to my needs and paired her with Alan who had experience of using innovative and alternative styles of tutoring to reach her learning style. It was a personal service rather than a blanket service. I was contacted intermittently to confirm all was on track.
