About:
I am an experienced and passionate educator with over 18 years of international teaching experience across IB MYP and DP, IGCSE, and A Level Humanities and English. I have taught Geography, History, and English in the UK, Europe, and Asia and specialise in personalised, confidence-building tuition for middle and high school students. As a current and former examiner for IB, A Level (Pearson) and IGCSE (AQA, and Edexcel) — across Geography, History, English Language and Literature — I bring genuine insider knowledge of how marks are awarded directly into my teaching. I equally support IB students to excel in their Internal Assessments, Extended Essays and exams. Highly experienced in private school entrance exam preparation, many of my students go on to secure places at highly competitive schools. What truly defines my approach is my commitment to building rapport and trust with every learner, helping students feel motivated, understood, and finally confident in subjects that once felt overwhelming.
Teaching experience and approach:
I hold a BA (Hons) in Geography and a PGCE in Secondary Geography, both from highly regarded UK universities. My teaching career spans classroom teaching, department leadership, and one-to-one tuition across schools in the UK, Portugal, Hong Kong, and Ireland. At a previous school in the UK, I served as Head of Geography, leading the department from KS3 to KS5, mentoring newly qualified teachers, and implementing enquiry-based learning. At an international school in Hong Kong, I taught OIB and IB Geography and History, coordinated Junior MUN, and led a school-wide sustainability programme. Most recently, I taught IB MYP Individuals and Societies, incorporating examiner-style preparation and extended essay guidance into my classroom practice.
In my tutoring, I begin by identifying each student's strengths, learning preferences, and areas for growth in order to build an individual learning plan that genuinely supports progress. My sessions balance high expectations with warmth and humour, and I draw on my examiner experience to teach students exactly what is needed to perform under exam conditions. I specialise in high-impact exam preparation across IB, IGCSE/GCSE, and A Level, as well as targeted coaching for private school entrance exams, covering comprehension, creative writing, critical thinking, and interview readiness. Whether a student needs stretch and challenge or patient support to rebuild confidence, I adapt my approach to make learning meaningful, accessible, and enjoyable.
