About:
I am a highly experienced IB and IGCSE Computer Science teacher with over 20 years in the classroom, and have a strong track record of supporting students to achieve excellent academic outcomes, particularly in theory-heavy papers and coursework components. As an IB Extended Essay supervisor, I guide students through every stage of the process — from topic selection and research question formulation through to analysis and final writing. I always ensure I am up-to-date with syllabi updates, ensuring my teaching is fully aligned with current assessment criteria and best practice. I am known for explaining difficult topics clearly using real-life examples, helping students understand concepts deeply rather than simply memorise content.

Teaching experience and approach:
I hold a Master's degree in Information Technology, which underpins the depth and rigour I bring to my teaching of Computer Science at both IB and IGCSE level. My teaching covers a wide range of topics including programming in Python and Java, algorithms and problem-solving, computer systems and operating systems, networks, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies, as well as Internal Assessment and exam strategy.
My approach is structured, student-centred, and exam-focused. I tailor every lesson to the individual student's needs, using real-world examples to make complex concepts accessible and meaningful. There is a strong emphasis on exam technique — I teach students how to decode command terms, structure high-mark answers, and apply mark schemes accurately, which is a key factor in achieving top grades. I also incorporate metacognitive strategies inspired by Project Zero, encouraging students to reflect on their thinking, identify misconceptions, and develop as independent learners. My aim is to build confidence, deep understanding, and strong results, while preparing students for further study in Computer Science.
