I am a certified Science teacher and official IB Examiner with over 20 years of teaching experience across international schools in the UK and Greece. I specialise in Biology and ESS at IB Diploma level, alongside A Level and IGCSE Biology. My experience as an IB ESS examiner gives me first-hand insight into how examiners apply assessment criteria and mark schemes. I bring a genuine passion for the life sciences into every lesson, alongside years of experience mentoring students through scientific research and competitions. I love guiding young people to think critically, ask better questions, and discover the confidence to achieve results that reflect their true potential.

I hold an MSc in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology (Honours, UK First Class equivalent) and a BSc in Biology, alongside UK Qualified Teacher Status. My career began in Greece, lecturing Biology and Science to senior secondary and vocational college students, before progressing into international school teaching across the UK and Greece, where I currently deliver IB DP and MYP Biology and ESS, A Level, and GCSE curricula. As an IBO Examiner for ESS, I bring direct knowledge of mark-scheme expectations and grading standards into my teaching, helping students align their exam technique precisely with what examiners are looking for.

My teaching philosophy centres on inquiry-based learning: I want students to understand the reasoning behind scientific ideas, not simply memorise them. In sessions, I draw on past papers, tailored resources, and diagnostic assessment to identify and close individual learning gaps, adapting my approach to differentiated and neurodiverse learning needs where required. I also mentor students through independent research projects, including synthetic biology competitions, to build investigative and analytical skills. Students I work with consistently leave with stronger exam technique, deeper scientific understanding, and the confidence to achieve top-band results in IB Biology and ESS.
